The Blind Girl : A Sacrifice…
There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind. She also hated everyone, except her boyfriend who has always been there for her. She used to say if she could only see the world, she would marry this her boyfriend.
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she was able to see everything, including her loyal boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her:
The girl was so shocked to discover that her boyfriend was blind too. So she refused to marry him.Shaken by this rejection, her boyfriend walked away in tears. He later wrote a short note to her saying:
The boy had donated his own eyes to her.
This is how humans behave when their status changes. Only few remember what life was before, and who has always been there for them even in the most painful situations.
How does this compare to Imam Hussein (AS)’s Sacrifice
Imam Hussein (AS) sacrificed his own life and that of his family members to save Islam. But some Muslims are so ungrateful to this great sacrifice, that they even speak against the Azadari (mourning sessions) of the Holy Imam.
They have forgotten that if Imam would not have sacrificed his life, Islam would not have remained alive except for some rituals as dictated by Banu Umayya’s greedy and corrupt rulers.
Unfortunately those who speak against Azadari, have forgotten the Hadith of our beloved Prophet (saww) who said that:
In another place, the Prophet (SAW) said:
The aim of Azadari of Imam Hussein (AS) is nothing but remembering his sacrifice, learning from this sacrifice and showing our love towards Islam by emulating Imam Hussein (AS)’s sacrifice.

Thanks for your comment. Indeed, we only need to remember the sacrifice of Imam Hussein (AS) to know that the sacrifices that we all go through in life are nothing compared to what we go through. It is nothing but a lesson for us to take on board and to follow in Aba Abdillah’s footsteps.

For me this post was very heartfelt. The story itself was touching but it was the relation of the story to Imam Husayn’s (AS) sacrifice and ultimately the events of Karbala that really hit me. Thank you for this one.
